2025 National Power Rankings

A pair of Wasatch Division shutout wins keep the Utah Surf in the No. 1 spot of the SouthStar Systems Week Three National Power Rankings for a second straight week.

A bye week dropped Preseason No. 1 and reigning WPSL champions, California Storm down one spot to the No. 3 position. New No. 2 Sporting CT entered the league this year wanting to shake things up a little bit. In just three weeks of league play the Connecticut-based club has done more than that, bounding into the No. 2 spot thanks to two shutout wins in Week Three.

Sporting is one of three previously unranked teams in the Top 10 along with DECATUR FC at No. 7 and Lou Fusz Athletic at No. 10.

With two SoCal Conference wins, FC Premier slides into the No. 5 spot with the surging Columbus Eagles FC right behind. Salvo SC season-opening win bumped the perennial North Lakes Conference contender up two spots to No. 8, followed by the idle FC Davis, now No. 9.

There are five additional clubs entering the Top 25 for the first time: Bavarian United SC (11) out of the Lake Michigan Division, Oklahoma City FC (16) in the Heartland Division, league debutants, Internationals SC (17) from the Lake Erie Division, and SouthStar FC (20) in the Lone Star Conference thanks to a big CowTown Derby win last week.

Rankings are compiled by Canadian-based RankR, featuring the Elo Ranking System, based on record, goals for and against, match location, relative strength of opponent, and playoff matches. To avoid any subjective or biased influence, human voting is not part of the Elo Ranking System process.

Top 10; Week Three - May 29, 2025

1 UTAH SURF

Central Region: Mountain Conference – Wasatch Division

Three shutout wins propelled Utah Surf to the No. Spot last week—and kept it there this week. The Surf has outscored opponents 14-0 without playing a single home match. Goalkeeper Sarah Newman has played 270 consecutive minutes without conceding a goal. Utah Surf are back in action June 2 in the club’s home opener versus Griffins FC. Surf beat Griffins FC 6-0 in Week Two to open the season.

2 SPORTING CT

East Region: Northeastern Conference

Sporting CT sent ripples through the Northeastern Conference with its Week Two win over league veterans RI Rogues FC. Sporting proved that the win was no fluke with two more big wins over fellow expansion sides the following week.

Player/Coach Tiffany Weimer has assembled an offensive force, led by Aubrey Kulpa with six goals, Tori Sousa with four, and Abbie Burgess and Mackenzie Johnson with three goals on the season. A total of 10 Sporting players have at least one goal to her credit this season. Sporting looks to make it four-in-a-row on the road Saturday at Albany Rush.

3 CALIFORNIA STORM

West Region: NorCal Conference

Idel last week after a win over Iron Rose FC to open the season, the Preseason No. 1 California Storm can do nothing but wait for its June 6 home opener versus Napa Valley 1839 F.C. Four different players scored in the Storm’s only match of the season so far. Abbie Faingold earned the clean sheet for the Storm in the season opener.

4 UTAH SURF

Central Region: Mountain Conference - Wasatch Division

Scoring goals has never been a problem for the Utah Avalanche, up three spots thanks to a pair of Week Three wins. But the Avalanche has yet to post a clean sheet this season. Outscoring opponents 14-3, 10 different players have scored goals for the Avalanche this season. Sadie Beardall, Kya Newton, Isabella Smith, and Ainsil Heap lead the club with two goals each. The Utah Avalanche looks for win number four on Saturday at MetaSport FC (1-0-1).

5 FC PREMIER

West Region: SoCal Conference

A 3-0 SoCal Conference win to open up its home slate was not enough to keep FC Premier from falling two spots. With a pair of matches in Week Four—including a pivotal road match at No. 21 Beach Futbol Club—this is very much a make-or-break week for the Long Beach-based club. Cherrie Cox leads the club with four goals on the season, followed by Savannah Hutchins and Vicky Pugh with three each. FC Premier returns to action Friday at LA Surf Soccer Club (0-0-3).

6 COLUMBUS EAGLES

East Region: Great Lakes Conference – Great River Division

Veteran Nikki Cox can’t stop scoring and the Columbus Eagles FC continue to climb to a season-best No. 6. Cox has an astounding seven goals in three games, which include back-to-back hat tricks. If Columbus can shore-up its back line, which has conceded a goal in each of the three games it has played, look for Columbus contending for the No. 1 spot in the weeks to come. Columbus Eagles FC return to action in Week Five, traveling to Corktown WFC on June 8.

7 DECATUR FC

South Region: Southeast Conference – Peachtree Division

Expecting a huge crowd for its home opener versus UFA Gunners on Friday, DECATUR FC bounded into the Top 10 thanks to a 5-2 road win over cross-town rival, Atlanta Fire United last week. Sarah Greiner tallied a brace and Maggie Wadsworth, Sydnie Thibodaux, and Maysoon El-Shami added goals in the win.

8 SALVO SC

Central Region: North Lakes Conference – Land of the Lakes Division

It’s never a question as to whether Salvo SC is going to score goals—it’s a question as to how many. After banging in six in the club’s season opener including a hat trick by Davy Mokelke and a brace by Elle Wildman, Salvo has the opportunity to make up the ground it lost since it came in No. 3 in the preseason poll with three Week Four games on the schedule.

A bye week did not help FC Davis any after its opening win at San Ramon F.C. in Week Two. Five different players scored goals for FC Davis in its 5-1 season opener at San Ramon F.C. FC Davis returns to action Saturday versus San Francisco Elite Soccer Club.

Two wins, nine goals scored and zero against in Gateway Division play landed Lou Fusz Athletic in the No. 10 spot. Mia Devoraux leads the club with three goals, followed by Madison Vasiloff and Rylee Howard with two. Caroline Ritter has a 180-minute scoreless streak running in goal for Athletic. With a pair of matches in Week Four, including a trip to 2024 Central Region champs, FC Pride, on Friday, there is still a lot of room for Lou Fusz to climb.
