WPSL GROWS IN MICHIGAN WITH ADDITION OF MICHIGAN RANGERS FC FOR 2026

OKLAHOMA CITY (JANUARY 29, 2026) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League announced the addition of Michigan Rangers FC for the 2026 WPSL season. With the announcement, the Grand Rapids-based club joins Corktown United as the second WPSL club on Michigan’s Lower Peninsula.

“We are excited to join the WPSL. The next natural step in the evolution of our club was to add a women’s team at the top of our internal pyramid," Stuart Collins, Michigan Rangers FC executive director, said. “We have been really impressed with the professionalism of WPSL as an organization thus far and we are very happy to be a part of the organization.”

Founded initially as a youth club in 1993 with the mission of delivering a comprehensive soccer experience to every player within the club regardless of age or playing level predicated on the development of each athlete as both a soccer player and a human being. Over the years the club rebranded from its earlier affiliations to establish its current identity, emphasizing player development, college pathways, and competitive success. In 2023 the club expanded into pre-professional soccer with a NPSL men’s side in 2023 and a WPSL women’s side in 2026.

The club’s inaugural women’s season will be led by Head Coach, Mario Zuniga-Gil, who brings extensive women’s collegiate (NCAA Divisions I, II, and III, NAIA, and NJCAA) and elite level experience with a strong emphasis on player development and high-level tactical organization. Zuniga-Gil holds a UEFA “A” License and was selected for the United Soccer Coaches “30 Under 30” program, recognizing top emerging coaches in the profession.

Conference and divisional alignment will be announced Friday, January 30 at the WPSL Annual General Meeting in Frisco, Texas. The 28th WPSL season kicks off in mid-May culminating with the WPSL Championships July 17-19. The 2026 WPSL schedule will be announced in March.
