CHATTANOOGA FC TOPS ARLINGTON SOCCER BLUE TO MOVE ON

 

Chattanooga FC advanced to the South Region Final with a 3-1 win over Arlington Blue Soccer in Leesburg, Va in a chippy affair that saw two penalty kicks, seven yellow cards, and a straight red. Hannah Tillett scored from the penalty spot and Annick Lolita Manga Zouma tallied twice to earn Player of the Match honors in the win.

 

 

Logan Tongberg slotted the spot kick to the bottom left corner, freezing Chattanooga goalkeeper, Maddie Smith, to put Arlington up 1-0 after a clumsy challenge upended an Arlington attacker just inside the penalty area. 

 

The lead held until the 40^th minute when Emma Cordero was shown a straight red for denying a clear goal off a Chattanooga corner kick swatting the ball over the cross bar. The referee was quick to show the red and award Chattanooga a spot kick, which Tillett slid just past the diving Susan Shobeiri. 

 

Manga Zouma put Chattanooga up 2-1 two minutes later finally finishing after a scrum for the loose ball in the Arlington Blue goal box. 

 

Manga Zouma made it 3-1 shortly after a lengthy weather delay when Nmesoma Ambrose stripped an Arlington defender of the ball inside the penalty area. Ambrose found Manga Zouma streaking to the far post with a perfect ball across the face of the goal mouth to seal the win for Chattanooga.

With the win, Chattanooga moves to 2-0-0 in the postseason and 7-1-1 overall.
