MISS KICK FC DRAW IN FINAL MATCH OF ITS WPSL COMEBACK SEASON

On Sunday evening, two of the top three teams in the Coastal division, MISS KICK FC and FC Women, tied 2-2 in the West Region Match of the Week at Irvine Valley College.

“Last night was an entertaining game of soccer,” Lancaster said. “Both teams showed commitment as they pushed to win.”

MISS KICK FC's two goals came from Sydney Studer (University of Washington) and Madison Louderback (University of San Diego) – the duo’s second on the season.

MISS KICK FC’s game plan was to keep possession and not let FC Premier Women get behind its defense.

“The game plan was to dominate the ball while stopping the opposition from getting behind,” Lancaster said. “FC Premier Women has serious pace and quality on their team and other than two lapses, we achieved this.”

Lancaster also spoke about takeaways of the season with this being its last game.

“We were disappointed to tie four games as we felt like we should have won them,” Lancaster said. “Despite this, we have had a great time this season. This team is a lot of fun to coach and they enjoy their soccer.”

On the flip side, FC Premier Women’s two goals came from Christiane Sundstrom (Utah State University), her first goal of the season, and Katie Roditis (University of Southern California), who has had a tremendous season with two goals and three assists.

FC Premier Women’s Head Coach, Aaron Rodriquez also highlighted the fantastic play from its center-back pairing of Skye Johnson and Ella Zimmerman.

With just one game left, FC Premier Women still has a chance of winning the Coastal division, starting with its game on Friday, June 28th against LA Surf Soccer Club.

To win the conference, FC Premier Women would have to win against LA Surf and hope that the current No. 1 team in the standings, Beach Futbol Club, lost its final game on Sunday, which happens to be against LA Surf as well.

“We need a win and hope for the first-place team to slip up,” Rodriguez said. “ Playoffs are just points away and anything can happen so we need a big win against LA Surf.”
