Sunshine Conference Week 7 Round Table 


 

Week 7 in the Sunshine Conference saw five matchups, including three wins for the Cape Coral Cyclones. 

 

CAPE CORAL CYCLONES 3 - 1 FLORIDA GULF COAST DUTCH LIONS FC     

Tony McKenna Stadium, Cape Coral, Florida 

Wednesday, June 19 


The Cape Coral Cyclones defeated the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC 3-1 in the first Week 7 matchup in the Sunshine Conference. 


The Cyclones opened the scoring in the 17’ minute with Jasmine Perez’s (Alabama A&M University) goal, assisted by Evie McCarthy. 


Kelsi Longabardi then scored in the 32' minute, assisted by Ryleigh Acosta, putting Cape Coral up 2-0. 


The Dutch Lions would get one back in the 53’ minute thanks to an own goal. 


In the 59’ minute, Michelle Horan (Florida Atlantic University) scored for Cape Coral and Acosta bagged her second assist of the night, putting the final score at 3-1. 


The win put the Cape Coral Cyclones at 2-0-2, while Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC fell to 2-0-4. 


 

DADE COUNTY FOOTBALL CLUB 3 - 1 AGC FOOTBALL 

Nathaniel Traz Powell Stadium, Miami, Florida 

Wednesday, June 19 


Dade County Football Club picked up its first win of the season with its 3-1 victory over AGC Football. 


Dade County got out on the front foot early in the 2’ minute with Amanda Gugliota’s goal. 


Claire Monyard quickly made it 2-0 for Dade County in the 3’ minute, assisted by Christine Kindt. 


AGC Football pulled one back in the 30’ minute thanks to Ernesteen Gilchrist’s goal, who capitalized off a defensive mistake by Dade County. 


Monyard then scored her second of the match in the 43’ minute with a shot from the edge of the box, this time assisted by Maelwenn Gaïffas. 


The win put Dade County Football Club at 1-2-1 while AGC Football fell to 0-0-6. 

 

FUSION FC 0 - 6 CAPE CORAL CYCLONES 

North Port High School, North Port, Florida

Friday, June 21 


The Cape Coral Cyclones defeated Fusion FC 6-0 in a dominant victory for its second win of the week. 


The Cyclones started the scoring early in the 3’ minute with Malaya Melancon’s (Florida Atlantic University) goal, assisted by Perez. 


Melancon then scored again in the 37’ minute, making the score 2-0 and getting herself a brace. 


Acosta then scored in the 50’ minute to increase Cape Coral’s lead to 3-0. 


The Cyclones went up 4-0 in the 53’ minute with Perez’s goal, her second of the week. 


Horan then scored her second goal of the week in the 56’ minute, assisted by Acosta, her third of the week. 


Leila Etemadi (Florida Atlantic University) scored the sixth and final goal in the 87’ minute. 


The win put the Cape Coral Cyclones at 3-0-2, while Fusion FC falls to 1-1-3. 


 

FC PRIME 0 - 1 SEMINOLE ICE 

Autonation Field at Nova Southeastern University, Davie, Florida. 

Saturday, June 22 


Seminole Ice beat table-leaders FC Prime 1-0 in the first of Seminole’s matches that weekend. 


Seminole’s goal came in the 30’ minute, scored by Emily Legler, assisted by Kendall Hecht. 


The win put Seminole Ice 3-1-1, while FC Prime falls to 4-1-2. 


 

AGC FOOTBALL 4 - 3 SEMINOLE ICE 

Flagler Grove Park, Pinecrest, Florida

Sunday, June 23


AGC Football got its first win of the season with its 4-3 win over Seminole Ice. 


Seminole Ice opened the scoring in the 14’ minute with Addison Crone’s (Lynn University) goal. 


AGC Football equalized in the 36’ minute with Sarah Medina’s goal, assisted by Mia Roca. 


AGC then went up 2-1 in the 52’ minute with Gilchrist’s goal. 


Victoria Moran then put AGC up 3-1 in the 61’ minute, assisted by Katrina Rodriguez. 


Seminole Ice then scored two goals to equalize at 3-3, one by Ava Kooker (Stetson University) and the other by Hecht. 


Roca scored the game winner in the 85’ minute for AGC, giving the team its first win. 


That win puts AGC Football at 1-0-6 on the season, while Seminole Ice falls to 3-1-2. 


 

CAPE CORAL CYCLONES 3 - 1 DADE COUNTY FOOTBALL CLUB 

Tony McKenna Stadium, Cape Coral, Florida

Sunday June 23


The Cape Coral Cyclones defeated Dade County Football Club 3-1 for its third win of the week. 


The Cyclones first goal came in the 12’ minute from Perez, her third goal of the week. 


Perez then scored again in the 26’ minute, raising her tally to four goals on the week. 


Dade County then pulled a goal back in the 61’ minute thanks to Maria Jose Cancio. 


Cape Coral, however, scored again in the 62’ minute with Katherine Pelkofski getting on the scoresheet this time. 

 

The win puts the Cape Coral Cyclones at 4-0-2, while Dade County Football Club falls to 1-2-2. 


 

STANDINGS 

With one week left to play, it’s still a tight race at the top to see who will be crowned the winner of the regular season in the Sunshine Conference. Currently, FC Prime sits in first place with 13 points, followed closely by the Cape Coral Cyclones in second on 12 points and the West Florida Flames in third, also on 12 points. Jacksonville Armada FC is right behind in fourth with 11 points and Seminole Ice sits in fifth with 10. Then, in sixth is Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions FC on 6 points, Dade County Football Club in seventh with 5, Fusion FC in eighth with 4, and AGC Football in last with 3. 


 

WEEK 8 FIXTURES 

The Sunshine Conference wraps up in Week 8 with eight matches. On Tuesday, Jacksonville Armada hosts Fusion FC. Thursday, Dade County Football Club faces Fusion FC. Saturday comes with a slate of games as the West Florida Flames host the Florida Gulf Coast Dutch Lions, AGC Football and the Cape Coral Cyclones face off, and Seminole Ice meets Dade County. The final three games of the season kick off on Sunday, with the Cape Coral Cyclones and FC Prime meeting in a top of the table clash, Fusion FC hosting the West Florida Flames, and Seminole Ice taking on the Jacksonville Armada.
