There is a new No. 1 out West. After two weeks in the No. 6 spot, the San Diego Strikers takes over at No. 1 on the strength of a perfect 4-0-0 record. Up north, the California Storm is climbing up the regional rankings, up one from last week, along with FC Davis, making its first appearance in the Top 10 this year. FC Tucson saw the biggest drop this week, down six spots to No. 10 after suffering its first loss of the season.

 

1. San Diego Strikers (4-0-0)

So Cal Conference — Plymouth Division

Week 6 Rank: 6

A perfect 4-0-0 record has the San Diego Strikers one point out of first place in the Plymouth Division title moving into a busy Week 7. The Strikers earned its second clean sheet of the season in last Friday’s 4-0 win over So Cal Union FC. Kiera Bocchino (post-collegiate) leads the division in scoring with six goals on the season—tallying braces in each of the three games in which she appeared. 

Next Up — The Strikers face the SoCal Dutch Lions FC 3-2-0, 9 pts.) on Wednesday, June 19, and are away again on Friday, June 21 at San Diego Parceiro Ladies (1-2-2, 5 pts.). 

 

2. California Storm (3-0-0)

Pac North Conference 

Week 6 Rank: 3

Even a bye week could not keep the perfect Storm from climbing one place this week. Wins over Lamorinda United, Fresno Freeze, and Nevada Futbol Club have the Storm ready for the heart of its schedule over the next three weeks. Camryn Lancaster (Texas Christian University) leads the club with three goals. 

Next Up — The California Storm host Iron Rose FC (2-0-3, 9 pts.) on Wednesday, June 19 in the week’s only action. 

 

3. San Francisco Nighthawks (4-1-0)

Pac North Conference 

Week 6 Rank: 1

A crusting 3-0 loss at Iron Rose FC last Saturday knocked the Nighthawks out of the top spot in the Region. And things only get harder facing ranked teams the next two weeks. Maggie Altman (University of Nebraska), Sydney Cooke (post-collegiate), and Raniyah Burton (Portland State University) are tied for second in scoring in the conference with four goals each. The Nighthawks hold a precarious two-point lead over FC Davis—this week’s opponent—at the top of the Pac North table.

4. SC del Sol (4-1-1)

Desert Conference

Week 6 Rank: 2

A 2-0 win at Arizona Arsenal Soccer Club was not enough to keep last year’s West Region champs from dropping to spots. Tatum Thomason (University of Washington) leads the club with four goals on the season, followed by Sami Fisher (University of Colorado) with three. Del Sol enter the week at the top of the Desert Conference standings with a three-point lead over FC Tucson.

5. San Diego Surf (4-1-2)

So Cal Conference — Plymouth Division

Week 6 Rank: 7

With seven games in the books, the Surf have cling to a one-point lead in the Plymouth Division standings. The club moved up two spots from last week thanks to a draw and a win at home: 2-2 versus Rebels Soccer Club on Saturday and an emphatic 9-2 win over the SoCal Dutch Lions FC on Sunday. Ines Derrien (academy) leads the club with five goals on the season. 

Next Up — The Surf are idle this week before closing out the season at the San Diego Strikers on Sunday, June 30. 

 

6. Portland Thorns FC II (4-1-1)

Northwest Conference

Week 6 Rank: 5

The Portland Thorns FC II dropped one spot after a 3-3 road draw at Spokane SC Shadow. Portland still sits atop the Northwest Conference, three points clear of the 9th-ranked Spokane SC Shadow. Cally Togiai (University of Portland), Alana Harry (academy), and Alexis Cockerill-Gonzalez (University of Oregon) share the club scoring lead with three goals apiece. 

Up Next — After a bye this week, the Portland Thorns FC II host No. 9 Spokane SC Shadow in a top-of-the-table clash on Saturday, July 6 and close out the season on Sunday, July 7 at Westside Metros FC. 

 

7. FC Davis (3-0-1)

Pac North Conference 

Week 6 Rank: Unranked

Week 6 shutout wins versus Lamorinda United and at San Francisco Elite Soccer Club put FC Davis into the West Region Top 10 for the first time this season. Tiffany Miras (American River College) leads the team with three goals on the season. 

Up Next — FC Davis travels to San Ramon FC (1-1-1, 4 pts.) for a midweek clash on Wednesday, June 19 and hosts No. 3 San Francisco Nighthawks (4-1-0, 12 pts) on Saturday, June 22. 

 

8. FC Premier Women (3-1-2)

So Cal Conference — Coastal Division

Week 6 Rank: 9

 

Up one spot this week thanks to a 3-0 road win at Southern California Eagles, FC Premier Women are level on points with Beach Futbol Club—the only team to beat them this year. Savannah Hutchins (North Carolina State University) leads the club with three goals this season.

9. Spokane SC Shadow (3-0-1)

Northwest Conference

Week 6 Rank: 8

A 4-1 win over Seattle Reign FC II last Saturday was not enough to keep the number two team in the Northwest Conference from dropping a spot in the rankings. Spokane trail No. 6 Portland Thorns FC II by three points, with two games in hand. Marissa Garcia (Gonzaga University) leads the club with four goals, followed by Livvy Moore (University of Oregon) and Rebecca Skinner (Washington State University) with three. 

Next Up — Spokane SC Shadow are idle this week. The club resumes play Saturday, June 29 at Seattle Reign FC II. 

 

10. FC Tucson (4-1-1)
Desert Conference

Week 6 Rank: 4

A tough 4-2 loss at Royals AZ last Saturday knocked FC Tucson down six spots in the rankings, and three points out of first in the Desert Conference standings. Mackenzie Moring (University of Arizona) leads the club and co-leads the conference in scoring with four goals. 

Next Up — FC Tucson can get revenge for its lone loss of the season on Saturday, June 22 when it hosts Royals AZ (3-3-0, 9 pts.) in the return leg of the series.
