UTAH'S WASATCH VALLEY MARKET ADDS SIXTH CLUB FOR 2025 SEASON
OKLAHOMA CITY (1/22/2025) — The Women’s Premier Soccer League continues to grow in Utah’s Wasatch Valley market with the addition of MetaSport FC for the 2025 season. With the announcement, MetaSport FC furthers the club’s commitment to player development, community growth, and a long-term commitment to advancing women’s soccer in Utah.
Founded in 2016, MetaSport FC now provides more than 450 players of all levels the opportunity to play and grow as players and well-rounded people, with an emphasis on empowering athletes through challenge and support so they can achieve their goals and while having fun.
MetaSport FC is headed by Head Coach Gabi Cheng in its inaugural WPSL season. After a highly-touted youth and collegiate career in the Salt Lake City area, Cheng went on to coach at the youth and high school levels in the area, earning WPSL experience as head coach of crosstown rivals Griffins FC before helping launch MetaSport FC’s WPSL side this season.
“I am thrilled to contribute to the growth of women’s soccer in Utah and to build on the dedication of the many talented young women in the state,” Cheng said.
Now the sixth WPSL club in the Salt Lake City metropolitan market, MetaSport FC will further its focus on “Leadership, Experience, Growth, and Opportunity” for collegiate, post-collegiate, and aspiring professional players.
“Our mission centers on creating an elite pathway that bridges the gap between youth soccer and professional opportunities, while fostering a supportive environment for player development,” Cheng said.
Official alignment for the 2025 WPSL season will be unveiled at the league’s Annual General Meeting in Oklahoma City later this week.
